At the end of January, Jamie's sister's husband passed away. He had a brain tumor and had been fighting hard for almost 2 years. We were all very heartbroken to see him go, but know that he is not suffering anymore. He left behind my sister-in-law whom he had been married for about 20 years and 2 daughters. We invited them and my mother-in-law to the mountains with us for President's Day weekend.
Jamie had been watching the weather forecast and there was a chance of snow while we were there. So, he started telling Olivia, our 10 year old niece, that we were going to get some snow. We came up on Valentine's night and then they were coming up the next night. As the day wore on, we saw no snow and were getting worried because he had promised her snow.
Well, about 30 minutes before they drove up, some snow started falling. When they drove up, snow was lightly falling and Olivia was thrilled!
We woke up Saturday morning to some snow on the ground. The kids couldn't wait to get out there in their pajams to play in it.
An hour later, the snow was sticking and covering the ground and coming down pretty hard. We enjoyed watching the snow for several hours.
The children had lots of snowball fights.
My sister-in-law had brought some snow discs with them. (Quick story about them--she and my brother-in-law bought a hardware store several years ago. My brother-in-law, Charlie loved snow so much that one of his first purchases as a store owner was a lot of snow discs. Missy told me that he had never sold one since they have owned the store, but he sure liked having them just in case.)
There wasn't much of a hill to sled on, but they sure enjoyed pulling each other around on the discs.
We really enjoyed our weekend with Jamie's family. The kids really enjoyed each other and it was hard to leave on Monday and head back to our normal lives.
