February Fun

The 100th day of school happened in February.  Katie decided to do 100 buttons on a letter "K" so that she could hang it in her room after the project was brought home.  Papa cut it out for us and Katie painted and placed the buttons everywhere.  It was very cute!

Katie's teacher from Kindergarten had a little baby boy in January.  We went for a visit a few weeks after he was born and brought a meal to them.  Everyone had to take a turn holding Bennett.  Unfortunately, by the time Laura Lynn was ready to hold him (she had been playing in the playroom) he was hungry and not happy.  But, we got a picture anyways.

The kids were out of school one day and so we went to EdVenture.  They had fun playing in the Snowville exhibit.  They slid down the bobsled hill, played hockey, and then drove around in the construction area.

Eli was selected last October to be on the first archery team that the school has ever had.  The first few weeks, he had his cast and then his brace on.  He still has had fun with it.  They had a tournament the other week.  It lasted about 2 1/2 hours.  They each had to shoot 15 arrows from one distance and then 15 arrows from a different distance.  There were about 25 to 30 kids shooting and only 5 could go at a time.  It was interesting.  They all did very good.

We went to the Jamil Shrine temple, courtesy of Aunt Mary.  Katie was at a slumber party for her friend, Lila, but the other kids and I had fun!  They always laugh at some of the silly clown acts.  There was even a bear riding a motorcycle this year!  

Back on December 15, 2012, my grandmother passed away.  She had been sick for awhile and had not been able to leave her home for months.  One thing about Grandma is that she has always worn a wig.  She married my Grandaddy Aaron a year or so after my parents were married so she has always been in my life.  I have always knows her to wear a wig.  Her body might have aged, but her hair never did.  It was always something we all kind of laughed about because no one had ever seen Grandma without a wig.  We didn't know if she didn't have hair or it was thin or she just didn't like it. I think that she just started wearing a wig back in the day when they were popular and just kept on doing it.

About a year ago, she quit wearing her wig.  She did have some hair underneath and over the year it actually grew to be pretty thick.  A couple of weeks ago, we all got together to go through her things and get her house ready to sell.  We found her old wigs.  We all had to try them on and have a few good laughs.  Even Laura Lynn got in on the action.

We miss Grandma a lot, but know that she is with Grandaddy Aaron and she's not hurting and sick anymore.
