Nana's Birthday Party

My mother-in-law, Nana, is having a birthday this next week. We decided to have everyone up to the man cave for a party. We started making calls and before we knew it, we had about 30 people coming over. We were so excited!

Our first guests arrived about 3pm. After a little while, our next guests arrived. At that point it was Jamie's siblings and their families and the birthday girl. So, we got in the pool. When it got closer to supper time, we headed in to get ready for everyone else to arrive.

Uncle Chris and Jamie were the chefs outside at the grill. They grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken wings. Before long, the following family members arrived: Dan, Anna, Emmie, and Natalie, Martha, Billy, and Will, Janet and Bob, Liz, Dana, Jacie, Conner, and Aunt Mary. Hannah, Wyatt, and Levon came over to eat also. (Helen came later to swim.) We ate a delicious meal--in addition to what was grilled....cole slaw, potato salad, mexican dip, homemade salsa and guacamole, baked beans, chips, tomatoes, and hot dog chili.

After supper, the kids went swimming again and Jamie and I took a lot of the cousins down to the garden to pick tomatoes, peppers, beans, eggplant, blueberries, and whatever else was ripe. It was so much fun sharing all of our garden goods with all of our family. Things like that just make me so happy to know that the Lord has blessed us with so much produce and we can share it with our family and friends.

Finally, as it was getting dark, we had everyone come back into the man cave for cake and ice cream. I had made a carrot cake for Nana to enjoy and a chocolate cake with m&ms and pirouette cookies for the kids to enjoy.
