Fiddler on the Roof Jr.

Eli has been able to go to drama camp down in Barnwell the last 3 summers.  This year, Katie was finally old enough to go with him.  She was so excited!  We found out a while back that they were doing Fiddler on the Roof.  So, we made sure to watch the movie several times before camp.  We also received the CD with the music and a script so that before camp, Eli and Katie knew all of the words to all of the songs.

We found out a week before camp that Eli was going to be Mendel--the Rabbi's son and Katie was going to be a villager.  She was a little disappointed because she really wanted a speaking part, but we made sure she knew that she was only a first year camper, so don't expect too much.

They went to camp each day from 9am until 4pm.  Olivia, their cousin who is 11 almost 12, went with them.  She and Katie were both villagers so they got to spend a lot of time together at rehearsals.

India, our 16 year old niece, was awesome in getting their costumes together.  They looked amazing!!

This is the entire cast on the first night.  They only used an eyeliner pencil for Eli's beard that night.

They performed for the public on Friday night at 7pm, Saturday at 3pm and 6pm, and then finally on Sunday at 3pm.  I was able to go to 2 performances.  They were both great!

 Grandma, Papa, Aunt Jennifer, Hannah, Helen, and Will came down Saturday afternoon and watched the 3pm performance with me, Jamie, Laura Lynn, and Ginny.

 Eli had a cool beard for this performance.

 Katie did a great job with it being her first play.

 Olivia did a great job as well with all of the singing and dancing.

 Somehow Eli always gets to play a drunkard.  He's actually pretty good at it!  : )

It was such an amazing week for them.  They are already talking about next summer and Eli really wants to get involved with theater around here before next summer.

Eli's biggest part during the performance was his "bottle dance".  He did awesome!  He practiced all week walking around with the bottle on his head so that it didn't fall.  During four performances, his bottle never fell!  I was so proud of him!
