The first field trip of the summer with Trinity's Summer Camp was to the zoo. I was able to drive Eli, Katie, and 3 other of the staff children to the zoo and hang out with them. We had lots of fun! Some of the animals were animated--especially the little baboon. He was "yelling" at us and shaking his hands at us. When the children laughed, he would make even more noise. It was really funny!
Whenever I go, the Koalas are always sleeping. There was one of the three that was actually awake while we were there. The kids were rushing me, but I could have watched him longer.
At the petting zoo, they all had to take turns milking the cow. Katie went and was trying to scare the turkey, and he let out a loud "gobble, gobble" and she jumped so high I almost wet my pants laughing at her. It really surprised her and she kept going back to him, but he just ignored her the next couple of times.
It wouldn't be a zoo trip without posing at all of the statues.
Eli loves the giraffes. He always talks about kissing one on its moochy lips. I forbid him from kissing it--especially when it was right there by his head. But, I did let him feed him and we discovered that a giraffe has a very, very long tongue.
