Springtime

Springtime is definately in the air. What a beautiful week it has been with lots of good old sunshine. Unfortunately, I didn't really get to enjoy much until today. I started feeling a little icky on Sunday night before I went to bed and by the time I awoke Monday morning, my throat was very sore and I had a slight fever. So, I packed up the kids and we headed to the grocery store and I got some good old fashioned extra strength tylenol. That seemed to knock the fever out and I got some energy to fold the huge pile of clothes on the couch and even vacuum. However, when those tylenol wore off, I had to sit for a while. I just had no energy. I was afraid it might be strep, but I didn't want to admit it yet. So, Tuesday rolled around and I still felt bad. I did get a little energy from my tylenol to clean mama's house a little but by bedtime, I knew I would have to call the doctor. I called my doctor's office first thing Wednesday morning and they called in a prescription for an antibiotic and it started kicking in by the afternoon. I do love a good medicine.

Last night Eli got sick and threw up all over me. Jamie got the easy task of holding him and comforting him afterwards and I got the nice task of cleaning the floor, couch, and of course, me. However, right after he got sick, he fell asleep and didn't hear from him until about 9:00 this morning. He didn't run a fever or anything so I consider myself lucky. I thought we could sleep in since Eli was sleeping so well, but Katie had other plans. She decided she was tired of her bed and mine and so we started cleaning the kitchen. She sat in her stroller while I worked. I think she was trying to give me some cleaning tips.   Posted by Picasa
Not long after we started cleaning the kitchen, Eli decided to join us. I got both kids dressed and fed and they decided to pose for a nice picture.  Posted by Picasa Eli loves to hold his sister and so I decided that since she was full and happy, it was the perfect opportunity for him to love on her a little.

Later in the day, after Katie's wonderful nap, we headed over to my parents to do some more cleaning. We just kind of take our time and get a couple of things done at a time. I'm sure without the kids there, I would have had all of her spring cleaning done by now, but between kids and me not feeling well, it has taken a little longer to do. We went outside and Eli swung for quite a while. The only way I was able to get him out of the swing was to tell him that Hannah and Will were coming over to play. So, we came home and Will and Hannah and Eli had a blast outside.
Posted by Picasa They rode in the big red car, the tricycle, and enjoyed the slide. Eli was a bit grumpy due to no nap, but we just ignored his little fits and he eventually got over it too and had a great time. We stayed outside until it was almost dark--and of course we came in when "Survivor" came on TV. Katie just hung out on the porch like a wonderful baby while the other kids played outside. (I think she was taking it all in and wondering when it would be her turn.)

Hannah decided she wanted to spend the night with us, so when we came in I fixed her and Eli some eggs and grapes.   Posted by Picasa I think they enjoyed themselves. They then took baths and read books and had a great time playing with each other. They hadn't seen each other in a week and Eli had missed "Hanny." He had gotten to where when he saw a picture of me when I was about her age, he would point and go, "Hanny." I tried to tell him that no, it was mommy, but I don't think he was convinced.

Now, where was Katie while the other two were having so much fun? Well, she was exploring on the floor.   Posted by PicasaShe isn't crawling yet, but she sure can get around the floor. She'll roll and turn to go wherever she sees something that has caught her eye. And once she sees it and gets to it, it's going in the mouth. I liked this picture because she somehow got up under Eli's John Deere tractor and then just looked at me like she was supposed to be there. She holds her head and upper body up real good. I love going into her room in the morning and see her sitting like that in the crib just waiting to be picked up.

Well, that was all I was going to write tonight, but as I was working on this Eli came in here with a book. (I know. You're thinking, "It's almost 11:00 why is he still up? I was wondering the same thing. He didn't even get a nap today, but he was still wide-eyed. Jamie had been back there telling him and Hannah stories so that they would go to sleep, but it didn't work.) Anyways, Jamie and I were sitting at the table talking while I worked on my blog and Eli got on the couch. We knew he hadn't made any noise and when we looked, this is what we found. Whoever said that it isn't fun to curl up with a good book and go to sleep? That's the story of our wonderful spring day!
