Last Sunday was Father's Day. Jamie had been in Germany with his mom since June 6th, so we were very excited to pick both of them up at the airport on Father's Day night. The kids had been patiently waiting all day for him to get home so they could give him his Father's Day gifts.
More on his Germany trip when he can sit down with me and talk about his pictures.
This week, Eli has been at cubscout camp. He had a lot of fun meeting new friends and even meeting some old friends. (Two of the boys in his den used to be in his primary class when we were in Blythewood ward years ago. Since then we have been back and forth between Ridgeway and Blythewood wards and Eli had forgotten them. ) I volunteered each afternoon after I left work and helped Tennille English with the Tot Lot--the children whose parents volunteer. The last day they did skits and Eli had a starring role in his. I only got his back side because of where I was sitting, but he did a great job projecting his voice and speaking clearly.
We have been spending as much time as possible in the pool. The kids all really enjoy the water and I have been getting in and trying to exercise my arms and knees. They finally achieved the 3 tier totem pole.
Our vegetables are getting ready in the garden. We have had a lot of cucumbers, squash, and zucchini ready. Some peppers and green beans. Mama let us pick some of her green beans the other day and then our neighbor, Harvey, let us pick his green beans yesterday. Between the two pickings, I was able to can 21 quarts of green beans and have enough for supper. I'm looking forward to learning to can more things this summer so that in the fall and winter we can still enjoy our vegetables from our own garden.
Hannah and I also made chocolate zucchini bread yesterday.
