Katie--Katie, Katie, Katie. Our dear sweet Katie is full of life! Sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes it's not so good. We'll start with her adventure last Tuesday night.
She and Eli had been hanging out with my dad while Jamie, Ginny, and I were in the shed canning some food storage. It was getting close to 8:00, so Ginny and I left Jamie in the shed and went up to the house to get Eli and Katie. Daddy and I started talking and Katie snuck off into the kitchen. I saw her out of the corner of my eye, but didn't think much about it. Next thing we know, she comes running into the living room with blood coming from her hand. I ask her why is there blood coming from her hand. What had she done? She said she cut it with the knife. The knife? What knife, Katie? I take her to the sink so that I can see where she's bleeding and I notice this deep gash in between her middle finger and her ring finger on her left hand. I called for Daddy to come in the kitchen. He starts looking for the knife and he finds it with a lemon stuck to it under the table. After calming her down and applying pressure for the bleeding to stop, we asked her what she was doing with a knife. She said she was just trying to get the seeds out of Papa's lemon. (Daddy had eaten fish that night and had left his knife and lemon on the table.)
Well, to make a long story short, Jamie came in and we decided she needed to see a doctor, so he stayed with Ginny and Eli and Katie and I headed to the Emergency Room. We signed in at 8:22 pm and we walked out of the door at 11:30 pm. She had 5 stiches put in. She did pretty good. Of course, the bleeding had stopped before we even left the house, so she just had a good time hanging out in the ER. She sang and danced and talked a lot! When it came time to stitch it, she wasn't real pleased, but fortunately they did not put her in the restraints. I held her uninjured hand and kept my hand so that she couldn't see them stitch her up. One nurse held her legs and the nurse practitioner held her injured hand still while the doctor stitched her up. She gets to go and get her stitches out on Wednesday. I forgot my camera or else I think I would have had some cool pictures of our ER visit, but I did take a picture today of the actual would with and without the bandage. Hope you don't get grossed out.
Now on to our next adventure with our little girl. Today, she got really quiet, so I was beginning to wonder if she had fallen asleep in her room. Well, Jamie went into our closet and found her in there asleep in an old carseat. Her back was turned to him. He informed me of her location so that I didn't freak out when I started looking for her and couldn't find her anywhere. Well, shortly later, Jamie was in the room and informed me that Katie was awake. I went into the closet, since she hadn't come out, and there she was with her back turned to me. I said, Katie are you up? and about then I noticed that her face had something on it. I said, Katie what is on your face and low and behold she turned to me and her face was covered in fuschia colored lipstick. She had gone into our bathroom, closed the door, and gone under the cabinets where all of this old make up is located. She had gotten lipstick all over her face, hands, mirror, and faucets. So, I got the soap and started scrubbing. (Well, I first got the camera and took pictures. She didn't want me taking her picture, hence the crying and crazy looks.) It all came off, but not without lots of tears. I just hope she has learned her lesson about staying out of my makeup.

One can only guess what our next adventure with Katie will be. In our house, we know that if something is "messed up", Katie is usually the culprit.
Last week, when I made Mrs. Betty's cake, there was a "Katie" moment with it. I went into the kitchen to start icing the cake, and I noticed that one of the small layers was missing a chunk. When I called the kids into the kitchen, it was very obvious that Katie was the culprit. Fortunately I was able to fix it with a little bit of freezing and lots of frosting so that I could mold it just right. I meant to take a picture of the before, but I was trying to watch tv and decorate a cake, so I forgot. I think I did pretty good because you never would have known the cake was missing a chunk of cake and was just filled with frosting. : )
We love our Katie--she brings so much excitement to our lives. We just hope that any further excitement won't involve emergency room visits.

Wow that is some makeup job!! Thanks for the laughs. I'm surprised you got it all off. I hope you teach her how to apply lipstick better before she hits Young Women's..... ;) What a crack up.

And I am really glad that Katie only needed stitches from the knife and did not hurt herself worse.
