Making Grape Jelly

Today, I made some delicious grape jelly with the muscadines and other grapes in Martha's Vineyard next door. Here are the steps:

1. Pick some grapes--Jamie picked a half bushel for me this morning.

2. Juice the grapes--Mama and Daddy have this great juicer that makes it so easy. There's no mashing and smooshing involved.

3. Measure out 5 cups of juice.

4. Throw your hulls and seeds away.

5. Add sure-jell to your juice and stir on high until it starts boiling pretty good.

6. Add 7 cups of sugar, bring back to a rolling boil, and boil for exactly one minute stirring constantly.

7. Pour it up into jars and seal immediately.

8. Let it cool and enjoy it on some biscuits, toast, or a peanut butter sandwich.

i made strawberry jelly for the first time last year...and I really want to make more, but I'm such a wuss - it sounds too 'old-fashioned' that I'm afraid I just got lucky last year and surely I'll screw it up this time!

i would LOVE LOVE LOVE to make grape jelly or any jelly for that matter but that's just too many ingredients. Ingredients scare me.
