Birthday Weekend in the Mountains

My birthday was the past week. I had a great day! I had so many birthday wishes on Facebook and in person. My mom fed me dinner the night before--which was great because I didn't have to cook or clean up afterwards. On my birthday morning, I woke up feeling a cold coming on. My mom called me and said she had placed a birthday cake in my van that I could take to work and share with my friends. It was a pound cake with lemon icing--Yummy!
I went to work where I got some delicious chocolate from Mrs. Tabita. The kids also sang to me. I came home to Jamie cleaning the kitchen for me so that I could bake 150 cupcakes for a girl scout event. I spent the afternoon cooking cupcakes, visiting with my visiting teacher, my home teacher, and my mother-in-law. My parents had left to go to the beach that morning (that's why I had eaten with them the night before and had my cake delivered that morning.) Jamie grilled some yummy hamburgers and we ate supper on the picnic table outside with his mom. It was a nice evening. I was able to get my cupcakes frosted before my favorite Thursday night shows came on.
On Friday afternoon, Jamie, the kids, and I headed to Maggie Valley for the weekend. On the way, Jamie took me to a cool restaurant in Hendersonville, NC called Papas and Beer. It was a little Mexican restaurant that had delicious food. I had the chicken chimichanga. This picture is what I couldn't eat that night and ate on Saturday. They give you huge servings. It was so yummy! The "salsa" they give you is really a bean dip that is fantastic!
Saturday, we were lazy and just relaxed around the cabin. We watched/listened to General Conference. I took the older 3 kids to see the movie "Dolphin Tale" after the first session of conference. It was a great movie! I loved it and the kids did too. We were able to watch the last bit of the next session of conference and then chilled out for the rest of the night.
Sunday morning, we woke up and listened to conference again and then headed home. We stopped at Grandad's Apples on the way back. The kids had fun walking around all the pumpkins and trying apples.

I enjoyed my weekend away with my family. It was so nice to get away from the routine. I can't wait for our next get away.
