Laura Lynn and Ginny started in their preschool classes on Monday. I can't believe Laura Lynn is in the 2 year old class. She is a little young, but she is hanging in there.
All summer long, she has been in the Toddler 2's class at the daycare while I worked. They go to lunch at 11:00am and then lay down between 11:30 and 12:00 for a nap. She is definitely used to this routine. Her preschool class was out in the gym playing when she saw her old class walking through the gym. They hold onto a rope that has little loops on it. They told me that she ran up to the rope, grabbed a loop, and said, "Eat, eat!" She was going with her old friends to eat some lunch. I thought it was so funny that someone that young truly understood her routine and was ready to have some lunch.
Her preschool teachers got her while the others went to lunch, but she went up to all of the adults in the gym saying "Eat, eat!" I guess she figured someone would eventually give her some food. And sure enough, Ms. Ashley gave in and got her a snack. Of course, she ate lunch right at 12:00 noon, so she didn't have long to wait.
Her teacher also told me how sweet she's been to the children who are new to preschool. Some have come in crying and she has gone up to each of them and tried to give them a toy to make them happy or patted their back trying to console them. What a sweetie!
Ginny started in the 3's class this week. She has been so ready to see her "little friends." She is also going to help keep an eye out on Laura Lynn now that she is the big sister at school. Katie has always done that, but now she's in kindergarten and Ginny has an important role.
2 Funny stories about Ginny:
I had bought this little black and white outfit a few weeks ago for her to wear on her first day of preschool. I showed it to her the night before and she wasn't happy because "black's not my favorite color." I convinced her to wear a pink bow and all would be fine. Well, we almost had WW3 Monday morning because "black's not my favorite color." I finally just had to get mean to get her dressed, but I made sure she had her pink bow and her pink flip flops since "pink's my favorite color."
Last week she wore a shirt that said, "I love mommy!" One of my assistants, Mrs. Brandi (who I taught fourth grade to), kept teasing her telling her it said, "I love Mrs. Brandi." Ginny would correct her every time. So, this weekend, we decided to make a shirt that Ginny could wear for Mrs. Brandi. I said, "I love Mrs. Brandi." She wore it over her clothes on Monday and when she walked in and showed Brandi, Brandi's face just lit up. She thought it was hilarious! Ginny was concerned that afternoon because I had left it at school. She wanted to wear it again today. I had to explain to her that I left it at school in the home living so that other kids could love Mrs. Brandi too.
