Ocean Lakes

We were able to go to Myrtle Beach for a few days last week. We stayed at Ocean Lakes at a little beach house that my parents rented. Bill and his family were there in their camper and Joey's family came on the weekend. It was a pretty excited few days. Here are just some highlights:

• Shark sighting just 5 feet from my mom in ankle deep water (yes, we all got out of the water and that's when I saw it. We got back in a little later, after we hadn't seen it in a while)
• DNR (Department of Natural Resources) airplane hovering over the beach we were on searching for a missing 13 year old that had been lost since the week before.
• News reporter carrying his camera by us as we all were told to get out of the water (the news reporter was covering a story--the missing boy's body they thought was 200 yards from where we were--it wasn't the boy)
• Golf cart rides around the campground
• Air conditioning not working that great in our little house
• Life guard rescuing a person out too far--it was a Baywatch moment as he ran by us and took his shirt off and jumped in the water
• Fire and Rescue truck coming down the beach to assist in the rescue
• Jumping on the bungee trampoline at the mall
• Seeing dolphins not too far out from where we were swimming
• Playing in the Splash Zone at the pool
• Spending money in the arcade to win some cheap little toys : )
• Sliding down the huge slide at the mall
• Going to church in the Myrtle Beach ward and running into 2 people we knew from home
• Oh yeah--almost forgot--rain every afternoon/evening!

By the way, the first 3 things happenend in one morning while we were on the beach. Crazy, huh! It really was a fun trip for us. Sadly, Jamie was not able to come with us because of his work schedule. Hopefully, we can make another short trip with him once it starts cooling off and use our big family tent.
