We just got back from an amazing week at the beach. We stayed at Oak Island, NC this year with all of Jamie's family. It was so much fun! It was very relaxing too. Jamie was able to get the whole week off of work. This was the first vacation since we've had children that he was able to be at the whole time. He has usually had to come back to work for a day or two, but this time he was able to stay the whole time. We enjoyed going out to the beach each day and enjoying the sun. I definately have beach bum children. It took Katie about 1 1/2 trips to the ocean to really not be afraid. By Tuesday, she was going in the water without anyone with her. I was constantly chasing her down.
Wednesday, Ginger, Spencer, and Andrew were able to come up to the beach with us. It was fun to have the boys to play with.
Thursday and Friday we went to a part of the island that was like a giant swimming pool. It was at the end of the island and there were no waves at all. You could walk across or swim across (the water only went to my chest level) to a big sand bar. There were all kinds of crabs and sea life around the sand bars. Katie and Eli both enjoyed just being able to float around without the waves knocking them this way and that. Of course, I think Jamie enjoyed the water the most. He loved diving in the waves and just floating along the ocean. I never realized how much he enjoyed the ocean.
We went into Southport a couple of times, which was only a few miles away. They had really cute shops. That is where Eli got his pirate hat. We also ate at a little restaurant right on the water with the best onion rings in this world.

glad y'all had a good time shannon! we had a great time with y'all at the beach! sorry my boys were such whiny butts though. maybe next time shaun will come with me and i can leave him and andrew at the house since they don't really enjoy it too much and like to keep their shirts on :) hope all is well!
